Inventory Planner / Purchasing

The Inventory Planner position provides critical support to our supply chain. This position is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring purchasing professional to enhance their forecasting and inventory management skills within the direct marketing environment.

Major Job Duties:

• Determine product ordering needs.

• Issue purchase orders as needed to ensure stock of items in all product lines.

• Establish criteria for order process management that includes: reorder points, minimum order quantities, and SKU type determinations.

• Continually work on all purchasing processes to refine and improve efficiencies.

• Identify and oversee stock adjustment process with suppliers.

• Create and maintain synergy between the purchasing, merchandising, and warehouse departments.

• Work closely with sales in order to assist them with special orders, drop shipments and facilitate their ability to provide superior customer service.

• Maintains open order details (estimated arrival dates, quantities and pricing).

• Provides support for Purchase Order confirmations, delays, price variances and model number discrepancies.

• Communicates inventory position, (ETA’s, Substitutions, Long lead-times) to sales staff and warehouse operations.

Requirements:

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written), strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Must be self-motivated, well organized, and possess basic understanding of purchasing.

• Must have a strong math aptitude for basic pricing and formula skill set.

• Proficiency in the use of computers, spreadsheet analysis and understanding of forecasting concepts is required. Database familiarity and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
